Oahu, Hawaii

The first time Kristy visited Oahu, with Cat Slatinsky, she was shown what an awesome surf adventure our 50th state can be. Cat moved to Hawaii when she was a teenager and lived there full-time for 20 years before putting everything she owned into a storage unit so she could begin her travels searching for perfect point breaks in Mexico.

Like most ocean lover residents on Oahu, she honed her surf skills in Waikiki, in preparation to surf the North Shore, of Oahu. Before too long however, she became a familiar face in the line-ups circling the Island. In 1997, Cat participated in the first college Surf Science course held in the United States, with the “Surf Professor,” Ian Masterson. Following that course in 1998, she began her career as a professional surf photographer and videographer. Shooting fellow professional surfers motivated her to study the tides, swell directions, and lighting conditions optimum for photographing the surf. She began surfing world competitive professional contests that same year and has competed around the world against the best women long boarders of her time. Now her experience will guide you across the waves as you seek out and enjoy Hawaiian perfection.

New Dates TBD

I was a former everyday surfer but had been out of the water for many years. I chose Siren Surf Adventures because I knew Kristy and Cat would have excellent equipment for me at high-quality surf spots with just the right amount of support to help me back into the lineup. I knew I would have experienced guides who have a lifetime of surf knowledge. No big groups with instructors with only a few years of experience.

Sun, Surf & Smiles

The Hawaii surf experience will be everything you’ve imagined and more. Oahu’s pulse is both vibrant and laid back and Siren Surf Adventures will show you both sides of this tropical paradise. First and foremost, your coaches seek out the best waves and conditions for your level of experience to make learning as fun as possible. If the waves in front of the hotel aren’t happening, the boards are loaded into Cat’s 1971 VW Bus and they will go find them. But you won’t have to travel far as Waikiki has one of the most amazing line-ups of world class waves within a 15 minute car ride. It’s certainly is another 5 mile miracle.

The surf on Oahu provides long rides that really aid in the learning process. These lengthy waves will give new students plenty of time to “pop-up,” and more advanced students will be able to take their skills to the next level surfing the diverse variety of waves that make Oahu one of the world’s premier surf destinations. The abundance of quality waves allows surfers to focus on turning, cutbacks, carving, cross-stepping, and nose-riding. There is no question that you will end your Hawaii surf vacation a much better surfer than when you arrived.

Your adventure will also include plenty of beautiful sunsets, amazing food and non-stop activities. A typical day starts with a morning surf with your new surf buddies. Kristy and Cat pick you up in the morning for the surf session and then take you around the island to their favorite lunch spots! Each day has a different and always unique afternoon activity with either a massage, outrigger surf canoe, yoga, a North Shore trip, hiking or a sunset free-surf session ending with a dinner on the town at more of Siren Surf Adventure’s favorite local eateries. Currently Honolulu, has become a foodie destination and it’s  nice to take advantage of it. It truly is a culinary surf adventure with farm-to-table entrees and great cocktails to wash it down. Don’t forget Hawaii, is the leader in the non-gmo, organic, and local food revolution. Come join Kristy and Cat on a Mucho Aloha experience!!!

Reviews

I have surfed for a few years and went to Oahu to be coached by Kristy and Cat so that I could move to the next level in my abilities. What I experienced went way beyond their expertise in the water. The cultural exposure that they created in our free time made the experience even richer since it was connected to local residents who know and love Cat and Kristy. I felt like I was on a surf trip with fun friends! Their surf instruction was completely personalized to my goals and ability. I will definitely join them again for another trip!!!!

“I have been on two of the surf retreats with the amazing coaches Kristy & Cat, and planning on a third soon. When you are not on and in the water being coached and encouraged on form and etiquite, you’re bound to be visiting cool off the beaten tracks restaurants, beaches, hotsprings, parks, shopping – and, meeting some of their amazing friends 🙂 Cat & Kristy have created a fun and nuturing atmosphere where you can hone your surfing skills, whatever level you are at, and meet some amazing like-minded sisters of surf for a wonderful relaxing (and productive!) vacation. I highly recommend Kristy Murphy’s Siren Surf Adventures”

“Kristy and Cat handled every camper individually and as was in my case, every camper was already signing up for a future camp by the end of our week together, they are that good. The surfing isn’t even the most impressive part of their camps; Kristy and Cat adore each of the camp locations and want the campers to love these places as much as they do. In Costa Rica, we hiked, were constantly on sloth patrol, came to know the nicest people, and ate the best food. In Waikiki I was eating fish heads with the locals who welcomed us with open arms and the next minute surfing huge waves in a 4-woman outrigger canoe. Around every corner, there is an unexpected surprise and all the while, Kristy and Cat give of themselves tirelessly yet make it seem effortless. They are the perfect yin and yang combo and are an absolute joy to hang with. It’s impossible not to love the experience and even more impossible not to sign up for the next camp on the spot.” ~ Hope | July, 2014

“My Hawaii surf camp experience was the best ever! The Aloha spirit is woven throughout EVERY activity of each day – in the waves, on the shore, sharing a meal or traveling from hotel to surf spot! The New Otani was the perfect complement because everyone in the hotel was very welcoming. The breakfasts on the lanai, a daily swim at the beach and running in the park were additional bonuses! Because of the excellent instruction I received I was able to build confidence from each surf session and feel ready for more each day. Kristy & Cat were very generous with the delivery of information, modeling and teaching surf skills as well as etiquette, positive attitudes and sharing the life style of the islands along with the history of surfing. A massage, SUP and a fun paddle on the outrigger canoe filled out the week of Hawaiian adventures! My week in Honolulu was above and beyond expectations in every way! I left knowing that I would be signing up for yet another camp as soon as possible.” ~ Michelle | August, 2013
“The Hawaii surf camp is awesome! Kristy & Cat are so much fun & great motivators. I have been to many surf camps, but this one stands out for the individual attention you receive & focus on really teaching you to surf. When my arms got tired from paddling, Cat & Kristy were by my side helping me with my technique so that by the end of the week I was able to cruise to & from the surf spot with much more ease. In between surf sessions, we had great adventures – riding an outrigger canoe, a very memorable sunset canoe sail & a private yoga class with world-class surfer Rochelle Ballard. They know exactly where to go to eat & drink, away from the real tourist spots. Plus, we had a blow-out shopping trip for the ultimate surf bikinis! The accommodations were perfectly situated right on the beach, a bit removed from the bustling streets at Waikiki and across from the street from beautiful Kapiolani Park.” ~ Jennifer |  June, 2014
